Few days ago I have heard about them in Projanmo Forum that this site is going to rank Bangladeshi Universities. I did not find them worthy to visit. But today one of our teachers mailed me regarding this. here is what he wrote:

Please consider voting, however stupid the idea may sound and be indeed! Just prove that we’re also online watching what’s going on around.

So I thought to give them a sight and also voted without reading anything! I have also joined the stupidity and turned to a stupid too!

After the vote, I tried exploring the site and become astonished seeing there is nothing about these den of those stupids. There is no about us page, there is no disclaimer page. Just an terms page.

I was searching a good rapidshare downloader (for premium account) that can be run in shell and is able to download in batch mode. Finally, just now I got a wonderful shell script for this purpose. It is damn easy to configure and use. It can even load download URLs from file or from URL. So, I just need to dump all download links in a file and feed the file to this script and it starts downloading. At first run it will make necessary configuration by asking you in 6 steps. Then you can run it to download files. I think you don’t need any help if you know how to execute a file in shell.

Just download and start using. I have started downloading by feeding it a file of 37 links. hurray!

As some of users of my plugin, wordpress read counter, requested me to release an update so that they can show hit counter along with post. Few days ago, I have made the necessary update but I forgot to release it.

The installation steps are available in the previous post. I am just showing how to show the counter with post.

For showing the counter you need to edit the template file. You need to put the following line anywhere in the theme/template to show the counter.

Go to theme editor. Click on index.php file and open it. Put the above line where you want to show it.

Most probably you are already aware of this game. It was introduced to me by Arafat Bro. But this game is initiated by tony bibbs.

Though I have observed many people, bloggers indeed, enjoyed this game, I did not find it as much funny thing. But still I have decided to disclose some facts of me, though possibly no one interested.

1. Recently I have started rolling myself out. I have started learning Violion (Behala), I have also plan to learn car driving next month) and trying to enjoy the university life. মাহদী’র ফোন করল আমার ইয়ামের ক্যাশ ডাইরেক্টরীটা সে চায়। কারণ কিছু কোডেক ইনস্টল করা লাগবে। তখন মনে হল লিনাক্স রিইনস্টল করলে আমারও তো আবার ডাউনলোড করা লাগবে। আমিও ক্যাশ ফোল্ডারকে আলাদা জায়গায় সরিয়ে রাখলাম। তখন মনে হল আমি দেখি নিজের একটা রিপো বানাতে পারি কিনা। ওমা! এটা তো দেখি পান্তা ভাত।

যেভাবে করলাম:
১. বিভিন্ন জায়গায় যত আরপিএম ছিল সবগুলোকে একটা ফোল্ডারে ঢুকালাম।
২. একটা টুল ইনস্টল দিতে হবে।

I was facing this problem with Pidgin for a quite long time. After upgrading to Fedora 10, I see the problem is not fixed yet. So I had to look into the issue and finally found a solution.

• Click System -> Administration -> Services
• Choose Network Manager and click Stop and Disable
• You can stop it from command line using
  sudo service NetworkManager stop
• Restart Pidgin.
• It should now connect automatically.

Stopping Network Manager will also solve the ‘no network connection’ issue that you might have been facing while Adding/Removing programs from System -> Administration -> Add/Remove Programs.

I have faced this issue mostly in Fedora (both 9 & 10). When I start Firefox, it starts in offline mode. I had to manually change it to online mode (File-> Offline Mode [uncheck]). Today I became frustrated. But after searching net for a while I found some solutions. After testing all, I found the real solution.

• Open new tab in firefox
• type about:config
• Click I’ll be careful, I promise
• type networkmanager in Filter box and press Enter
• It will show preference name below. The last column (Value) should be true. If not, double click on it. It means, you need to set toolkit.networkmanager.disable as true.

That’s it. Restart your browser. It should now start online mode.

Today I had to face much trouble while trying to install vlc player in my Fedora 9. You know, there are a lots of dependencies for installing vlc. The Yum could not resolve (using rpmforge and some other repo) a dependency and it took me more than hour to resolve it. After googling for about one hours, I came to know about RPM Fusion repository. After adding it to my Yum repo, vlc installation is damn easy. That dependency is now quickly and effectively resolved.

That’s why I planned to list a number of Repos so that I and you can use it when needed.

1. Yes, the old friend RPM Forge.
2. RPM Fusion
3. Livna
4. FreshRPMS
5. Dribble – Somehow it is dependent to Livna

These repos provide automatic repo configuration rpm. Visit their configuration/using page and download & Install the RPM and the repo is ready to use.

For manual rpm installation, you know rpmfine.net is great always too.

I was amazed seeing that using mobile phone as modem in Ubuntu 8.10 is just like learning abc. You just connect a modem using USB cable or Bluetooth and Ubuntu will take care of the rest. The easy and step by step interface is so easy that any novice can configure it too.

But I am mostly Redhat variant user. I use Fedora 9 for my laptop’s OS beside Windows XP. I did not find configuring Bluetooth in Fedora as easy as in Ubuntu. But no worry, its not hard enough. Today I tried to open a Term Deposit with Dutch Bangla Bank Ltd. (DBBL) using their internet banking interface. In a previous post, I have told how inconveniences occurred while getting my Internet Banking account activated. Anyway, to discuss about the point, I have logged into the internet banking system using my ID and Password. After clicking the link ‘Open Deposit‘ from ‘Term Deposits‘ section, I have seen a form to select deposit type and other info. I have entered the required fields. Finally I click ‘Open Deposit’ link/button to submit the request. But it showed me an alert that I must agree with ‘the terms and conditions.

Ok thats usual. I missed that part during filling up. So now clicked the link to read the terms and conditions. But waiting a while, I have awarded a blank page. I thought my connection problem. So closed the window and click the link again. I have tried 3-4 times. But I was getting fully blank page. While all other websites were coming smoothly. I have even tried after a while. From last month, I was planning to travel to somewhere. But I was not getting any suitable partner. Last Thursday me and Tusher has decided to finally move. I have plan and taken preparation in 30 minutes. Started our journey initially to Kurigram. Reached there at night. One elder brother of our university received us there. We stayed there total two nights and one day. We have visited some places of Kurigram and Rajarhat. Among them “Shindu Moti’r Dighi” is most notable. Then we have started back to Rangpur to visit home of another university elder brother. At Rangpur, we have visited the renowned Karmichel College. Then we stayed the night at brother’s home. Next morning we started back to Rajshahi and purchased train ticket from Rangpur Pirgacha to Natore. But after coming to Bogra, we changed our mind and planned to visit Bogra. So we got down from train and called another brother who then received us. He has managed a private vehicle and we have visited ‘Mohastangar’. We have also visited ‘Behular Bashor Ghar’. At 5pm we again came to bus station to back to Rajshahi. But we again felt incompleteness. So we again planned to continue. Then we came to Tusher’s home village, Sirajgonj. I am writing from there now.

We have planned to visit Iswardhy bridge tomorrow. Then we may go to Jessor. I can’t upload photos due to extreme poor internet connection of GrameenPhone (GP). I think, I must change my ISP, GP, as soon as I reach to Rajshahi.

‘Monpura’ is to be a wonderful cinema yet to release. People like me is waiting for a quite long time for the grand release of this cinema. Why the waiting? Its the songs of the movie! The songs of this movie are already released and attracted the listeners. The melancholy songs of ‘Monpura’ is really heart touching.

According to http://monpura.blogspot.com/ the cinema is supposed to be released on coming valentine day. Its a wonderful choice too. So far we have heard about the cinema, choosing a valentine day for its release is the perfect match as it is mainly a love story.

The most amazing thing of this cinema is the songs of some casual singers. That is Fazlur Rahman Babu and Chanchal Chowdhury. We have heard Babu’s tone in some dramas. But he sung outstanding in this cinema. His songs ‘Nithua Pathare’ and ‘Sonai hai hai re’ is really heart touching and heart breaking . I really became fan of Babu’s song. To me he is best casual singer . But I admit other professional singers like Krisnokoli also sung well. But they are not a surpise for us as of Babu. Hat off Babu .

I am waiting for the cinema to be released. I wish to visit as soon as possible after releasing.

I have used OpenLD Directory Script for Projanmo Web site. OpenLD is really simple and cool script. But it was wonderful extension system for injecting your own code using the hook.

But the worse news is that the homepage is down for a quite long time. So we don’t get any update of this script anymore. I have seen many people were looking for it.

Today Arafat Rahman was asking me if I have any backup of this script. I searched my computer ending without positive result. Later entering my website’s account I have found a backup. So I planned to post it so that interested people can download it.

In recent months we have noticed several news on corruption about GrammenPhone. They were involved to illegal VOIP business which was discovered by RAB and BTRC in 2008. It happened more than once. Last year we have also noticed they illegally sacked too many regular employees and employed low paying employees as replacement.

Today we have noticed a very formal complain about illegal retrenchment of 70 employees. The victims were asked to sign a white paper. When they asked the reason, they were informed that they were sacked from the company.  The victims then said they would attract media coverage against this illegal means. Then the so called authorities announced the devastating thing “We have bought the media by providing advertisement to the tune of lakhs of taka. So, your news would not be published or telecast in the print and electronic media”.

Honestly, they were giving huge advertisement in all electronic and print media. Even they were sponsor of our National Cricket Team. Their malicious hands of money even captured our national prides. So their such delivery is not unexpected. If they withdraw their advertisement from the media many newspaper and tv channel may fall in even loss. But after all, where is the commitment of the media? Is there any actually?
