Book Review

The Da Vinci Code

Holding a lot of patience, finally I have completed the reading of the great book The Da Vinci Code. Its an amazing book. Before completion, I was thinking about the logics, papers and histories are correct or the writer has written from his world of imagination! Later I saw the 'Fact' that All descriptions of artwork, architecture, documents, and secrets rituals in this novel are accurate. Actually Dan Brown portrayed everything so nicely that it must spellbind any reader.

Synopsis:

Review:

JavaScript is always a complex reading at least for me. I don't know why I can't keep the patience to read long on Javascripts. But I think this book, made me an exception. I was reading and reading it. But I could not complete few chapters due to my upcoming exam. But I believe, read enough to comment on it.

I heard about JQuery after starting using of Drupal. Then I thought, it must be some powerful thing, as a great CMS like drupal using it. So, interested grew in me to learn it. Sadly, I could not find any concise and well structured online resource. Moreover, I hate reading on screens.

Later, I found the book. Now I believe, I can now work with JQuery. Though i will again start with JQuery after my exam.

In writings the authors urged the developers to apply the graceful enhancement concept in their JQuery projects. Interestingly, they has followed the same philosophy in writing too :D. That I meant, they discuss each new thing with along with the earlier discussed things. So, they did not write brand new examples for each things. Rather, they progressed sequentially and sorting out one after another.

Not a criticism, as a Non-Native English reader I sometimes had to read a sentence (It happens when I read Javascript :-p) several times before understanding it. Thanks to the English Teacher for teaching a bit English too ;).

Building Websites with Joomla! 1.5

cPanel User Guide & Tutorial

cPanel BookI am using cPanel for more about 4 years. I wonder, how many features I did not know about until I read the book cPanel User Guide and Tutorial written by Aric Pedersen, working as System Administrator for Netenberg.com and several other companies.

Professional Ajax

Professional Ajax by Nocholas C. Zakas, Jeremy McPeak, Joe Fawcett is a fantastic book on AJAX which is the common buzzword now a days.

WHM Book

Managing a remote web server is never an easy game. I know many people who are not familiar with non-windows operating systems hence don't wanna buy dedicated server as it takes much time to learn and managing server is bogey job for many. But now I believe the book titled "Web Host Manager" by Aric Pedersen should be the greatest gift of 2007 (as I reviewed it this year).

More books to review

I received two books from Wiley for reviewing. They are titled "Professional Ajax" and "Professional PHP5". The pages are excellent and the books' binding are comfortable for reading. I already started reading the first book.
So, I am in little bit pressure of doing routine works and reviewing those books. Moreover, more books are coming from Packt Publishing very soon. So, I must complete these books before new books arrive.
:) In spite of pressure, I am enjoying while reading the books.
